I think Web3 sucks and I will never change my mind.

I disclose that I hold around $150 in cryptocurrency but use it exclusively for payment and this article is of my personal opinion.
cryptobro (plural cryptobros)
- (slang, sometimes derogatory) An enthusiastic cryptocurrency supporter, usually male, especially a dogmatic, condescending one.
I’ve read a lot of comments from people online that I think are annoying but one kind that I tend to see more often now than ever is the cryptobro. The cryptobro is a kind of person disillusioned with late stage capitalism but instead of coming to the conclusion of capitalism being harmful to the well-being of society they instead come to the conclusion that the banking system needs to be abolished and replaced with cryptographic hashes.
I’m going to write down why I think Web3 sucks.
The blockchain?
Web3 proposes fixing the web through their fancy proposals of decentralization through blockchain magic, which most people do not understand or have the will to understand and prefer not to be a whiny incel who thinks having a picture of a monkey wearing sunglasses makes them cooler than everyone else.
Lack of actual useful use
Most web3 projects are focused on cryptocurrency-focused applications such as DeFi(decentralized finance) and NFTs. DeFi, if you get past the fancy marketing, it wants to replace banks with complex crap built on blockchain technology that leaves you vulnerable to losing money. And for NFT’s, it’s a link to a JPEG that has been given value through forced digital scarcity and yes you can just copy paste it.
The rest are usually gimmick apps that have better alternatives.
The wrong kind of decentralization.
Web3 projects aim to reinvent the wheel instead of taking inspiration from the decentralized past natures of the web. Decentralizing the web should involve use of federation, personal websites, and open source.
This is a note and it will be updated later and linked to other ones to cover more of my opinion. This is how my website works.
