    My name is Claire Martin. I am a tech hobbyist and computer science major. I have a interesting brain.

  2. How long have you been making websites?
    Since 2020 :D

  3. And what got you into the hobby?
    I wanted to share my autistic ramblings to the world.

  4. What kind of website are you most interested in?
    Simultaneously simple and complex websites.

  5. What’s your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?
    I random think of ideas of what to put on this website. I get bored and think “OH! i could add THIS to my website!” or i have a thought and think to publish it here.

  6. Please link to your biggest inspirations
    I am inspired by Vlare.TV which burned down and died terribly but I remmember how cool it was and how it really made me want to engineer websites of my own.

  7. What’s your favourite part about making websites?
    The fact I can do anything, the feeling I can have my own piece of the internet.

  8. And the thing you struggle with the most?
    Keeping efforts consistent.

  9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?
    Generally the same layout for each page.

  10. How confident are you with CSS?
    Fairly so! But I find it way easier to use Tailwind.

  11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?

  12. What is your favourite HTML element?
    Even though I don’t use it much, <details>.

  13. If you’re making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?
    I decide the vibe I want the user to have.

    Ya!1

  15. How about PHP?
    Only if I google literally everything.

  16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?
    “Brain on the web”

  17. Are you more focused on content or design?
    Design, but I want to write more.

  18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?
    I own keyboardclaire.net, killfasci.st, and some others you’ll never know!

  19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or “retro” websites?
    It depends: are they true to being a personal website, or do they just have aesthetic?

  20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?
    If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. There are also too many divs on this site and they work okay, but I should definitely be using more semantic HTML.

  21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?
    I love them!!

  22. What do you think of button walls in particular?
    They’re cool.

  23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?
    Similar. Vanilla CSS.

  24. Are you envious of other people’s websites?
    Very.

  25. What text editor do you use?
    Visual Studio Code.

  26. Why do you use that one?
    Convenient Git integration, ease of use.

  27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?
    S3 storage host, proxied by a server of mine & Cloudflare too.

  28. This might not be relevant to you, but what’s your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?
    Don’t really care.

  29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?
    Excluding files on the CDN…

  30. Do you keep local backups of your files?
    On Git.

  31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?
    A mix of both.

  32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?
    Yes. For the user experience.

  33. Have you ever thought about quitting? Why?
    Yeah. Busy with life stuff.

  34. Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?
    I am the only person I know who does this. I guess it’s the only thing that will remember me after everyone’s forgotten me.

  35. Do people in your real life know about your website?
    Yes!!1 why wouldn’t they?!?!

  36. Do you update your website very often? How often is “very often”?
    Often. 2 or more times every 2 weeks on average.

  37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?
    I used to change it a lot, but now it’s mostly static.

  38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?
    Me-focused, outside web-focused.

  39. Do you do web design professionally?
    Nope.

  40. If not, would you like to? And if you’re comfortable answering, what do you do for work?
    no i think i want to go into it support.. Im an unemployed college student rn.

  41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?
    I want to but nobody does!

  42. Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?
    I keep social media for others and to draw attention to my website

  43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?
    Discord, Beeper/Matrix. would very much prefer email

  44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?
    yes! Check my listened page!

  45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?
    Question too vague.

  46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?
    Many different topics from mental health to politics to life changes to reflections on life, to fun facts, to philosophy, and all sorts of stuff.

  47. Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?
    i dont even know who i am but i try to be as authentic as i can be for a fake larping huan being

    no

  49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?
    Yerp. zero idea what else would be ideal.

  50. What are practices that you think people should avoid?

  52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?
    I use none but im planning on adding some extremely soon

  53. Do you consider different browsers?
    I test firefox only then pray. I then use browserling to test on older browsers. i’VE used lightningcss to get tailwind working on older browsers to some extent.

  54. Speaking of, what’s your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.
    Zen Browser!! It allows u to organize all ur stuff into spaces, it’s fast, and it’s private.

  55. And what OS are you on?
    Windows 11 debloated. I used to use Fedora KDE. They got rid of openh264 so just use Linux Mint now I guess!

  56. Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?
    I hate windows!

  57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?
    Yes!!

  58. What are your thoughts on autoplay?
    glad it’s dead

  59. What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?
    I think they’re cool. trying to get into some!

    im not sure

  62. What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?
    a website that my soul can be noticed through and the reader can be surprised at it.

    no :(

    MDN, W3Schools, Geeks4Geeks.

  65. Is there a habit you just can’t get away from no matter how hard you try?
    not specifically

  66. What’s your biggest advice for a new webmaster?
    Keep your site up 24/7. If youre using a framework, use components to their fullest extent. Don’t use css and js to the point my computer lags.

  67. Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?
    I use tailwind

  68. What do you think of frameset layouts?
    Gross in the modern days

  69. How about table-based layouts?
    I don’t think they’re as bad.

  70. Do you subscribe to the ideas of “one-column”, “two-column” and “three-column” layouts? Do you use any of these?
    I like to fill the page so I do use columns to fill the page as much as possible. Hope u like it!

  71. Do you spend longer on the HTML or the CSS?
    The css mostly.

  72. Have you ever made a page with no CSS? It’s useful for your thoughts.
    I have but I’ve never published any. I just dont really prefer it..

  73. Do you ever find yourself making layouts with nothing to put on them? Or do you only make layouts when the need arises?
    I create layouts with a purpose :D

    I’m an expert! jk.. im okay at it.

  75. Do you have a habit of looking at the source code of websites you visit?
    yes!!! i hate website builders i like to see skeletons and bones and flesh and the underlying heartbeat

    freecodecamp, mdn, w3schools, youtube

  77. Do you ever force elements to do things they’re not supposed to?
    nope

    Personally do not like..

  79. When you’re sizing stuff, what do you use first? Do you use px, em, %, or something else?
    em, rem, and %

    yes i like to find inspiration for my own site. i also just like seeing other peoples use of html and lives.

  83. Do you bookmark other people’s websites? How would you feel knowing someone else bookmarked yours?
    I rarely use bookmarks. I’d be very happy if someone bookmarked mine tho <3

  84. What do you want people to be most impressed with when they see your website?
    The design but also the way my brain works, the thoughts i have, the way things are scattered about.

  85. Are you interested in technology outside of websites? Do you collect?
    I’m into tech politics, protocols, digital freedom. I do not collect technology.

    Way too much

  87. When it comes to your website, who is your target audience?
    strangers, potential friends, friends,

  88. Have you ever been interested in XHTML?
    I would never use it but i’ve learned a bit about it and I find the concept pretty cool.

  89. Do you program in general? Have you ever written a program for use with or on your website, not counting simple JavaScript?
    Yes!! I wrote a django api for this website. It’s a public api and u can use it urself if you wanna check the urls my js is fetching from

  90. Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?
    I use Astro which is basically one. Makes maintaining a site so much easier. Love it.

  91. Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?
    i do. i like to see it go up because it fills the void in my soul…

  92. Do you frequent forums? Which ones?
    Not really.

  93. Do you write your page content directly into the editor, or do you prepare it elsewhere, like a text document or a Word document?
    I write into my code editor.

  94. Do you think you appear cool to others? A more accurate answer now: do other people ever say you’re cool?
    No. Sometimes.

  95. Are you embarrassed of your old work? Have you ever deleted everything out of shame?

  96. Would you close down your website if you couldn’t update it, or would you leave an archive?
    My site is public on git i’ll just take it down and you can build it if you wanna see it

  97. Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?
    I reveal way too much. And as the site goes on i’ll reveal more!

  98. Are you willing to reveal who your best online friend is, and/or if they have a website?
    N/A

    yup. gotta keep them page speeds up!
